When you make a gift to United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties, you are helping to create lasting change for local kids and their families here in our local community. Your support helps prepare kids for kindergarten, helps students stay in school, and provides resources and support for families in need.

Cash, Check, or Card

Donate online, mail in a check made out to United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties, or visit us during business hours at 401 N Young Street Suite A, Kennewick, WA 99336 to drop off your donation.

Stock

Donating appreciated securities such as stocks or bonds is a simple and tax-effective way to support United Way. Such gifts may come with additional tax benefits when compared with giving cash. Simply transfer the stock directly to United Way rather than selling it. This allows you to claim a charitable contribution in the amount of the average of the high and the low stock price on the day of the transfer.

Donor-Advised Funds

A donor advised fund (DAF) is like your own charitable savings account. You can contribute cash and non-cash assets, potentially earning an immediate tax benefit. You can then recommend grants to nonprofits like United Way. If you have a DAF, please consider recommending a grant to United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties.

IRA Charitable Rollover (Qualified Charitable Distribution)

A charitable rollover, or Qualified Charitable Distribution, is a tax-efficient way for those 70.5 years or older to donate from their IRA, while also counting towards your required minimum distribution. If you have an IRA, please consider making a rollover gift to United Way.

United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties offer multiple giving options to allow you to reach your long-term philanthropic goals. Whatever your situation, there’s a way to make a lasting impact on our local community with United Way.

Name United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties in your will or trust

Leaving a gift to United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties through your will or trust is one of the most powerful ways to build a lasting legacy. If you don’t have a will yet, consider making one with United Way’s free tool. It takes just a few minutes to create peace of mind for you and your loved ones while building a legacy for the future.

Include United Way as a beneficiary of retirement assets

When you name United Way as a beneficiary to receive your IRA or other retirement assets, rather than donating retirement assets during your lifetime, the benefits multiply:

  • Neither you and your heirs nor your estate will pay income taxes on the distribution of the assets. Your estate will need to include the value of the assets as part of the gross estate but will receive a tax deduction for the charitable contribution, which can be used to offset the estate taxes.

  • Because charities do not pay income tax, the full amount of your retirement account will directly benefit United Way.

  • You can divide your retirement assets between charities and heirs according to any percentages you choose.

  • You support a cause you care about as part of your legacy.
